Ronald Maycher Obituary

RONALD WILLIAM MAYCHER

JULY14-1959 - OCTOBER27 2023

In the early afternoon of Friday October27, Ron lost his short but very courageous battle with cancer. Beloved brother, Uncle and friend, Ron is sadly missed by all who knew him.

Left to mourn his loss are his siblings Darlene McGibbon (Greg) and Ray Maycher (Brenda). Nephews Connor McGibbon and Blair Maycher and nieces Katie McGibbon and Christine Maycher.  Ron is also sadly missed by his very special friend Curtis as well as cousins Debbie and Ronnie.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Walter and Doreen Maycher.

Ron was the middle of 3 children of his parents Walter and Doreen. He attended early years at Minitonas elementary school and then went on to middle school and high school in Swan River after the family moved in 1975.

For 46 years Ron was employed by Spruce Products where he saw many changes and was proud to be associated.  While our parents were still with us you would find Ron at mom and dads on the weekends helping them maintain their property and lending mom a hand at canning pickles and jam then later at the coffee shop. Ron and dad had a very special relationship.  One would say they were best buds.  After both mom and dad passed Ron sold his log cabin in the RM of Minitonas and moved into our parents’ home in Swan.  This is when he and Curtis became great friends.

Rons hobbies included puttering around the yard and garage, and he became very adept at repairing and maintaining whatever was required, usually as a team with his beloved father.  They spent many hours planning their next project together. Ron had a couple yearly trips to Winnipeg to visit Darlene and family.  Each one of those trips included a long list of fix-it projects that he would keep busy with during his stay.  In turn Ron would have his own list of items to shop for keeping Darlene on the go for hours every day trying to find the best deal!

Ron appreciated the care and compassion he received from the Swan Valley Cancer Care team as well as the staff at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg.
