Anna (Siutra) Tchir

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother Anna on Monday, October 2, 2017 in Benito, Manitoba at the age of 91. Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Stan (Kathy), Henry (Wendy), Liz Whitehouse (Tom Feisel), Rose Tchir and Sylvia (Jerry) Heidt; grandchildren, Jeff (Maureen) Tchir, Charlyn (Sheldon) Teise, Curtis (Tara) Tchir, Colin (Allison) Tchir, Darrell (Cheryl) Tchir, Darwin Tchir, Monica (Brad) Shields, Jennifer Tchir, Devin (Krista) Heidt, Brydan Heidt; great grandchildren, Jayden, Cameron, Layla, Jayna, Emerson, Hudson, Piper Tchir, Zoe and Cash Shields, Sadie and Harper Heidt; sisters, Olga Moroz, Shirley VanOs, Vicky (Bill) Payne, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Metro; her parents, Stanley and Kataryna Siutra; daughter, Frances; grandson, Terrance Heidt; sister, Mary Rogalski; brother in law, Nick Rogalski, Steve Moroz, and Tom VanOs.

While working in Toronto, Anna met and married Metro, later moving to Ethelbert, then making their home in Benito to farm and raise their family.

New babies were welcomed with crocheted blankets and quilts, as well as anyone else who wanted one.

Her most cherished time was with her grandchildren, baby animals whether it was kittens or baby calves, gardening, cooking, quilting, crafts, puzzles, bingo, and volunteering her time at the church, hospital, or Benito Senior Center.

Mom will be forever loved and missed.

A funeral service was held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with Father Warren Dungen officiating. Interment followed in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Tchir, Charlyn Teisa, Brydan Heidt, Devin Heidt, Curtis Tchir, Colin Tchir. Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Tchir, Darwin Tchir, Monica Shields, and Jennifer Tchir.

Donations may be made in Anna’s memory to the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church, Benito, Manitoba.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff at the Benito Health Centre for their excellent care and attention during Mom’s residency.
