Cynthea Johnston
1958 - 2018
On August 20, 2018 Cynthea Ann Johnston of Swan River, formerly of Dauphin had passed away at the age of 60 years.
Cynthea Ann was born March 23, 1958 to Charles "Elwood" and Marlyne Mary Esler in Wadena, Saskatchewan.
Growing up in Dauphin she enjoyed figure skating and babysitting, as well as going to her uncles’ farms in the Pilot Mound area. She specialized in hair dressing in high school, graduating in 1977. She worked as a swimming pool receptionist, hair dresser, bank teller and sales clerk.
In 1977 she met Calvin Johnston. Their love grew and endured a long distance relationship until after his graduation from Red River Community College in Winnipeg. They were married June 16, 1979 in Dauphin. They started their life together in Winnipeg, moving to Thompson and then on to Melville, Saskatchewan. On December 19, 1989 they were blessed with their son Tyler. Cindy worked as a sales clerk and sold a clothing line at house parties. She also enjoyed ceramics and house decorating, as well as her many friends.
In May, 1991 Cindy accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour, changing her life and assuring her salvation.
In 1995, they moved to Swan River just when Tyler was to start kindergarten. She was the church treasurer for a while and also prepared the weekly church bulletin. She worked as a Welcome Wagon representative and baby sat at home.
She will be missed, but is in a better place now. Healed, and in peace!
Cindy is survived by her loving husband: Calvin Burton Johnston and their son Tyler Burton Johnston (his wife Shelby Lena Maryann) of Edmonton, Alberta; by her older brother, Jeff (Sharon) of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, and his daughter Ashley, son Taylor and daughter Shaylynn; by her younger brother, Dean (partner Tammie) of Brandon, Manitoba, and daughters, Tamara (husband Charlie), and Candas (husband Kevin), and sons Jacob, Sam and Jackson, along with grandson Symon.
Cindy was also predeceased by her parents and her in-laws, Burton and Marie Johnston.
A funeral service was held on Friday, august 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. from the Pentecostal Tabernacle with Pastor Reg Rivett officiating. Interment followed in the Birchwood Cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations in Cindy’s memory may be made to Canadian Mental Health Association, Swan Valley Branch.
