Douglas Connolly

1971 – 2018

Douglas Rea Connolly was born on September 20, 1971, in the Swan River Hospital. He attended special needs schooling at the Heyes Elementary School and the junior high school in Swan River.

After school was completed Doug attended the Association of Community Living’s recreational centre, where he assisted with the paper recycle program. For thirty-two years he lived on the Minitonas area farm. After that Doug moved into his home in Swan River where he was cared for by the devoted staff of ACL.

He is survived by his mom Eva; his sister Betty; her husband Ken; and their children Matthew (Bailey), Ian and Jordan. He had many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Larry Connolly; his brother Gordon Connolly; grandparents Frank and Elma Connolly, and William and Margaret Sims.

Doug passed away on Saturday, November 3 at the age of 47 years, in the Swan River hospital, at peace knowing that he truly made a difference in the lives of people that knew and worked with him.

A funeral service was held from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services, Swan River, Manitoba on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kathy Highmoor officiating. Interment followed in the Minitonas Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken, Matthew, Ian and Jordan Tetterington, David Sims, and Dave Kirby. Those recognized as honorary pallbearers were Carol Mullaney and all of Doug’s caregivers.
