Edna May Harvey

May 4, 1929 ~ November 25, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Edna May Harvey (Morison) of Swan River, Manitoba passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 25, 2017 at the Swan Valley Lodge at the age of 88 years.

Edna was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba at Misericordia Hospital on May 4, 1929. She was the eldest child of four born to Frederick and Mabel Morison of Fannystelle, Manitoba. Edna attended Maplestead Elementary School and Starbuck High School. She moved to Winnipeg with her sister Doreen where Edna took a Secretarial course at Success Business College and then went on to work at Peoples Credit Jewellers. Edna and Doreen boarded at Rev. and Mrs. Patterson's home for many years. Edna met Allen Harvey at a dance in Winnipeg. They married on November 17, 1948, her beloved husband of sixty-three years.

They moved to the family farm after Allen's discharge from the army. Allen and Edna farmed in Lenswood for many years where they raised their three children Sharon, Beverly and Dalton.

After moving from the farm in 1976 to Swan River, Edna worked at Stylerite for three years and the Swan Valley Co-op for eighteen years in the ladies fashion department. After her retirement in 1994 she helped Allen in the family meat shop they built on their acreage in 1982.

Edna received her Fashion Designing and Dressmaking Diploma in June 1972.Her passion for sewing continued her entire life. She sewed for many of her family, friends and neighbours. Edna served as president of St. Andrews United Church Women in 1988-89 and was given a Life Membership Certificate in December 1989. Edna served many years with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion in Birch River and Swan River, Edna was awarded a Life Membership Appreciation Service Award in October 2008 in Swan River. Edna was a member of the Lenswood Women's Institute for thirty-two years.Edna volunteered her time as a 4-H Leader for ten years teaching the Lenswood girls sewing and cooking. Edna volunteered her time for many years in Swan River with Life Line/Direct Alert and delivered Meals on Wheels with the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch No. 39. Edna was a member of the Bowsman Horticulture Club for many years. Her beautiful yard truly showed her love of flowers and gardening.

Edna was an amazing, devoted, hard working and generous lady with a great sense of humour. She took pride in her family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her loved ones.

Edna is survived by her children Sharon Williamson, Beverly (Bob) Daymond, Dalton (Lorna) Harvey; grandchildren, Lee (Tannis) Williamson, Myron (Bonnie) Behrman, Darcy (Cori) Behrman, Dee-Ann (Patrick) Williamson, Tennaille (Lynden) Harvey, Shelby (Tyler) Harvey; great grandchildren: DR (Katie) Williamson, Nebrazka (Dustin) Borgstrom, Ryan Behrman, Lindsay Behrman, Alexander Pereira; step great grandchildren, Sean Mullin, Gui (Nicole) Borgstrom, Chae (Brett) Borgstrom; great great grandchildren, Callie and Coral Borgstrom, Brandt and Lane Eggie; sister, Doreen (Emile) Arnal; brother, Clifford (Beulah) Morison; brother in law, Orville (Doreen) Olson and many nieces and nephews.

Edna was predeceased by her husband, Allen Harvey; sister, Merie Olson; her parents, Frederick and Mabel Morison; and in laws, Walter and Edith Harvey.

Evening prayers were held from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services on December 1, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services were held from the St. Andrew's United Church in Swan River, Manitoba on December 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Kathy Highmoor officiating. Following the service Edna was laid to rest next to Allen in the Veterans Section of the Birchwood Cemetery in Swan River, Manitoba.

Active Pallbearers were Lee Williamson, Myron Behrman, Darcy Behrman, Dee-Ann Williamson, Tennaille Harvey, Shelby Harvey, DR Williamson, Alexander Pereira.

The Harvey Family considerd everyone at the service as Honorary Pallbearers.
