Freda Neely 1931 - 2019
With great sadness the family of Freda Lenore Neely announce her passing on July 20, 2019 at the age of 87.
Freda was born on December 3rd, 1931 to Wilbert and Alice Rusk at the farmhouse on Sleepy Hollow Road near Kenville. The family moved to the farm west of Kenville when she was still a baby. After finishing school, she moved to Swan River where she worked as a waitress. On June 4, 1951 she married the love of her life Norman James Neely and settled on the farm in Pretty Valley. She raised six children on the Neely Farm and remained there for the rest of her life.
She enjoyed her life on the farm, cooking and baking for everyone, and in spite of claiming to not enjoy gardening she always had a large, beautiful garden in the summers. She loved knitting, playing cards, curling in the winters and was never happier than when she was camping with Norman and her grandchildren. She always found time to help Norman with chores around the farmyard, which in later years always included caring for the many animals that she loved so much. They also enjoyed travelling and visiting relatives and friends along the way. She was especially fond of attending her grandchildren’s high school graduations and was very excited to attend Jennifer and Henry’s wedding in London, England and Jason and Nikki’s wedding in Maui, Hawaii.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 68 years Norman, daughter Susan (Jim) of Whitehorse, Yukon, son Bill (Susan) of Edmonton, Alberta, son Marty (Susan) of Milton, Ontario, daughter Robin (Tommy) and son Barry (Peggy) of Pretty Valley, granddaughter Jennifer Africa (Henry), grandson Jason Huff (Nikki), granddaughter Lauren Neely, grandson Taylor Neely, granddaughter Emily Neely (Donovan), granddaughter Leah Neely, grandson Colton Neely, and great-grandchildren Jonah and Lyla Africa and Anderson, Lincoln and Brandon Huff, her special cat Angus, along with many nieces, nephews, friends and special friends Sandra and Keith.
She was predeceased by her son Lonnie, parents Wilbert and Alice Rusk, brothers Art, Les, Dick, George, Melvin, and Lloyd, and sisters Margaret and Louise.
