Kathleen Harvyl

1926 – 2019

Kathleen Harvyl (nee Borcz) was born August 9, 1926 on the family farm at Benito, Manitoba. Kay had a very happy childhood and loved school, attending Benito Consolidate, Grades 1 to 12. She later taught in various schools; McKinley, Lancaster, Steele, and Birch River. She always enjoyed the young children.

In 1945 she met Frank and was married July 26, 1947. They settled on the farm where they raised three children; Shirley, Faye, and Dale, at which time she gave up teaching to be a mom. How she enjoyed God’s Natural Beauty and nature itself. Her life was first the Lord; second family; and God’s creations, her farm animals. She had a tremendous love for the land, flowers, trees and all animals, hoping it would rub off on her children. Kay was blessed with reasonably good health due to educating herself about good food and exercise. She was an avid reader.

Kay was predeceased by her husband Frank; daughter Shirley; father William Borcz; mother Margaret Borcz; brothers Metro, Peter, and John; an infant sister; brother in law Larry Kinakin.

Leaving to mourn are her beloved children Faye (Ken) Kobelka, and Dale Harvyl; grandchildren Elaine Kobelka, Mark (Wendy) Kobelka; great grandchildren Kate (Ryan) Iles, Jesse (Ryan) Iles, Josh Kobelka, Ally Kobelka; and great great grandson Jace.

We thank God for Kay’s life and Christ for her salvation. Kay was a very private person and will be leaving the same.

A graveside service was held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River, Manitoba with Ferlin Abrahamson officiating.
