Kenneth Gardner

1940 – 2019

Following a three-month long illness, Ken Gardner passed away in hospital with his family by his side in the early morning hours of December 28, 2019. He was 79 years old.

Born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Ken completed his education in Elkhorn, Manitoba where his family had made its home. He married Leona Pollock in Brandon, Manitoba in 1960 and the young couple were blessed with three children; Kevin, Dale, and Laurie.

After moving to Swan River, Manitoba, Ken used his many skills at several positions through the years, eventually working for Louisiana Pacific until poor health forced his early retirement.

Ken had many interests, particularly going to auctions where he was always looking for the special “find”. He also enjoyed golfing over the summer months. But he was at his happiest when he was at home, sitting in his favourite chair, and watching television with his latest little rescue dog, Goldy, at his side.

He was a devoted grandfather and took much pleasure in watching his grandchildren grow to adulthood and hearing about their jobs and their extensive travels around the world.

He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Leona; two sons, Kevin and Dale (Dawn); and his daughter Laurie Maidy (Allan). He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Tyson (Ally) of Regina, Saskatchewan, Alisen (Mike) of Swan River, and Derek Maidy of Whistler, British Colombia. He leaves a sister, Dorothy of Brandon; a brother, Randy (Rhonda) of Swan River; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lilly and Ron Gardner; and infant granddaughter, Kyla Deanne Maidy.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
