Mary Waroway

1929 – 2019

On November 27, 2019 Mary Waroway passed away at the age of 90 years. Mary was born on May 2, 1929 in Pelly, Saskatchewan to William and Katherine Woloshyn (nee Kinaschuk). 

She attended school at Lister and Pelly.  In 1947 Mary, along with her parents and brothers and sisters, moved to Durban Manitoba.  On May 7, 1949 Mary married Peter Waroway.  Together they were blessed with three daughters; Rose, Iris and Shirley.  From 1949 to 1983 Mary and Peter farmed south of Durban.  After retiring they moved from the farm to Swan River. 

Summertime would find Mary busy with her flower and vegetable gardens. Mary especially loved her flowers. One of Mary’s favorites being the Stargazer Lily.  She loved being outside and watching the birds.  Mary loved children, and her grandchildren are precious to her and she always thought the world of them. 

After retiring Mary and Peter took trips to the east coast including Prince Edward Island, the west coast, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Disney World and Disney Land.  

Mary was predeceased by her husband, her parents, two brothers, three sisters, and son in law.  Mary is survived by three daughters; Rose Owen of Thompson, Iris (Csaba) Dozsa of The Pas, and Shirley of Swan River; also three  grandchildren, Vince (Natalie) Owen of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Marnie Owen of Winnipeg, and Preston Dozsa of Toronto; and three great grandchildren Oliver, Ryder and Ainsly Owen.

A prayer service was held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. from All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church in Swan River, Manitoba. The funeral service was held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. from All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church with Father Warren Dungen officiating. Interment followed in the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River, Manitoba.
