On November 27, 2017, Rose Chartrand (Nepinak) at the age of 82 years passed away at St. Paul’s Care Home in Dauphin, Manitoba with her family by her side.

Rose was born on September 4, 1935 in Winnipegosis, Manitoba. She was the first child of eight girls and six boys. She attended Pine Creek Residential School from 1944 to 1954. She spent most of her adult life as a dedicated and hard worker. She worked at various jobs, such as housekeeping in a hospital, and working in a restaurant and at a daycare.

Rose had a great love for family, especially her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, who gave her much pride and joy. She remembered everyone’s birthday and events. Rose will be remembered for her kind and loving ways and her devotion as a mother and grandmother.

She loved to go camping while picking berries and enjoyed the campfire, frying bannock over the fire while drinking tea and visiting with family and friends. At home she always had a pot of tea ready on the stove for herself and to share with whoever would visit.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon Shaver (Nepinak) of Swan River, Gerald Chartrand (Marlene) of Pine Creek, Barbara Chartrand of Winnipeg, Mathilda Chartrand (Isaac) of Winnipeg, David Chartrand (Leeann) of Winnipeg; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; brother, Michael Nepinak (Shirley); sisters, Mathilda Stocen, Agnes Richard (Gary), Suzanne Nepinak, Beatrice Moosetail, Yvonne Nepinak, Delores Nepinak (Stanley), and Juliette Nepinak (Raymond).

Rose was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Chartrand; son, Stanley Harold Chartrand Jr.; her parents, Raphael and Marie Louise Nepinak (Chartrand); brothers, Andrew Nepinak, Walter Nepinak, Lawrence Nepinak, Harold Nepinak  and Albert Nepinak; grandson, Steven Chartrand; great grandson, Isaac and Isaiah Chartrand and Austin Frost; son in law, Gary Woloshyn; and numerous brothers in law and sisters in law.

We will miss you and cherish your memory forever.
