Myrna Bresky Obituary

Myrna Bresky

1956 – 2019

On June 5, 2019, Myrna Alice Bresky (Hogg) passed on peacefully at the Swan Valley Health Centre at the age of 62 after struggling with cancer.

Myrna was born on October 5, 1956 in Swan River, Manitoba to George and Alice Hogg. For the greater part of her life, Myrna saw Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. He had walked with her and carried her through the rest of her life.

From a young age, Myrna was raised by her father George along with Jack and Mary Wilson and her grandmother as her mother passed away shortly after Myrna’s birth. Myrna attended school in the Ruby District of the Swan Valley. In 1970 Myrna gave birth to her first and only son Daryl. In 1972 Myrna married Ken Bresky, and two years later their daughter Laura was born. Together, Ken and Myrna started their own logging company, and this is how they came to make a living. Myrna’s involvement ranged from bookkeeping and cooking to running for parts and housekeeping. A large part of the time was spent away from home and family. One of the most memorable times from which stories arose, was from the time spent in Bacon Lake. Between the endless fishing and eye watering humor, Myrna loved this time in her life. Myrna’s favorite hobbies included crocheting, sewing, gardening and fishing.

Another major part of Myrna’s life involved the enormous amount of time and energy she devoted to caring for her daughter Laura. Laura fought a near lifelong battle with cancer and its complications. While there was a period of improvement with Laura’s health, the family was fortunate enough to experience the trip of a lifetime to Disneyland. Myrna talked many times for hours about the fun and adventure they had while in Disneyland.

In the later part of the 1990’s, Myrna, Ken and Laura moved back to the farm and settled down back at home. It didn’t matter what time of day it was, or how many guests you brought along, Myrna would always welcome you into their home and throw on a fresh pot of coffee.

Myrna is survived by her beloved husband Ken, son Daryl (Sherri) grandchildren Jessie, Katelyn, Austin and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Myrna would always put others above herself, even if she was the one in need, and would look for the good in all. Myrna, just know that you will always be a part of our lives and will never leave our hearts. Those memories of you will always bring a smile and you’re forever in our hearts until we meet again. God bless your heart.
