Peter Watts

1931 – 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce that Peter Watts departed from this world on March 10, 2019.  He was 87 years old.

Peter was born on September 5, 1931 in Swan River, Manitoba and was raised in the Swan Valley.

Peter farmed for most of his years in the Bowsman and Lenswood areas of the Valley.  During the winters he occasionally left to work in the nickel mines in Ontario and Northern Manitoba. 

Peter loved the outdoors and all it had to offer.  Although he was a trapper for many years, he loved all animals, big and small.  He loved to fish and in his healthier years after retiring from the farm he would be on the water (or ice) daily if possible.  He also loved gardening.  He would plant a huge garden each spring and then give away most of what he grew as it was just too much for him.  He loved flowers and took pride in the roses, poppies and lilies that surrounded his house. 

And cards… let’s not forget about the games of 31 and crib.  The love of the game was passed down to all of his children and family get togethers still end up at the table with a deck of cards.

Peter was extremely loving and proud of his six children.  Barry (Karen), Val (Fred), Ron (Marlene), Brent (Lori), Joy (Roger) and Tracey (Brian) and his seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  In addition to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Peter is survived by his brother Paul (Lenore); two sisters Frances and Mary; and sister in law Joyce.  He was predeceased by his parents Luke and Julianna; his brothers William, John, Jack and Alex; his brothers in law Peter and Ed; and sisters in law June and Virginia.

We know in our hearts that you are in a better place and one day you will be waiting for each of us when we join you in Heaven.

A funeral service was held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. from the Bowsman Legion Hall with Ferlin Abrahamson officiating. A private family interment was held at the Bowsman Cemetery.
