Phyllis Younger

1933 – 2019

Phyllis Marie Younger of Swan River, Manitoba, formerly of Bowsman, Manitoba, died with family by her side at the Swan Valley Personal Care Home on September 11, 2019.

She was born in 1933 in Manson, Manitoba to Janet and Harold Kellsey. After minimal education, she had various jobs in stores. She also did home childcare and then cooked for fifteen years in the personal care home. She married Morley Younger on November 13, 1950.

She sadly leaves to mourn; two daughters, Dianne (John) Stephenson, and Joan (Murray) Olfrey; also four grandchildren, Randy (Sherry) Fahrenschon, Derek (Cathy) Fahrenschon, Rob Olfrey, and Tim (Jody) Olfrey; great grandchildren, Kennedy, Hailey, Cater, Emily, Ryan, Konnor, Britany, Garrett, and Ella; one great great grandchild, Everitt; two sisters, Marion (George) Walter of Calgary, Alberta, and Wilma (Bill) Perry of Surrey, British Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband, Morley Younger; and her mum and dad.

She was an active member of the Bowsman Women’s Institute. She had many hobbies and interests. Some of her favourite hobbies were making Barbie clothes, knitting, crushed glass pictures, gardening, and many various crafts like oil painting, paper tole, ceramics, and in later years did many books of adult colouring. Phyllis was always up for a game of cards and loved teaching the grandchildren to play crib.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services, Swan River, Manitoba with Rev. Kevin Sprong officiating.

If friends so desire, donations in Phyllis’ memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Within our hearts, her memory will remain forever, and she’ll be sadly missed by all who knew her.
