It is with sadness that we announce the sudden loss of our sister, our aunt, and our friend, Rose Atamanchuk on November 4, 2019.
Rose was born on April 25, 1936 on the family farm. She attended Cowan West School. Growing up on the farm meant there were many jobs and Rose worked closely with her parents and with her younger siblings helping with farm chores.
At an early age Rose went to Edmonton where she worked for several years. She decided to come home and again help her parents. She was an excellent baker and homemaker.
It was here that she reconnected with Bill Atamanchuk, who become the love of her life. Rose and Bill were married on May 14, 1958. They made their home in Regina for many years. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and travelling extensively across Canada and the United States. Rose was an avid Saskatchewan Roughriders fan.
They both had close ties to Cowan and retirement brought them back where they enjoyed many happy years. Rose moved to Swan River in 2014, where she made many friends at the Seniors’ Centre and the Legion.
Rose was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews who always enjoyed her phone calls, her kind hospitality, encouragement, and advice.
Rose is survived by her siblings, Victoria Kereluk, Hope (Mel) Skulmoski, and Dave (Renate) Wowchuk; sisters in law, Anne Atamanchuk and Rosann Wowchuk; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Atamanchuk; her parents, William and Jean (Plustwa) Wowchuk; her in laws, Bill and Margaret (Humeniuk) Atamanchuk, brothers in law, John Atamanchuk and Ernie Kereluk; and brother, Silvestor Wowchuk.
She will be missed by many but never forgotten.Rest in Peace!
