Russell "Morris" Humeniuk Obituary

Morris Humeniuk

1948 - 2019

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Morris Humeniuk on August 11, 2019 at the age of 71.  He is survived by his beloved partner, Juanita, his three children, Heather (Kevin), Jeff (Cathy), and Dustin (Amber); his two step-sons, Riley (Jenna) and Tynan; his five grandchildren, Mike, Porter, Lincoln, Dehlia, and Dali; brothers, Bill (Karen) and Dave (Lorna); and sister, Rose (Barry); and six nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Mike and Anne (nee Kozarchuk).

He was born Russell Michael but answered to Morris his entire life. He was born in Ethelbert on August 7, 1948 and attended school in Cowan and Minitonas. He worked various jobs in heavy construction, mining in Snow Lake, and custom welding at home, but mainly grain and cattle farming. Then in later years, he worked in Fort McMurray and various locations in Manitoba and Saskatchewan operating a bulldozer. Up until his death he worked alongside his son, Dustin at SV Solutions.

Morris was a man of many talents and there wasn't much that he couldn't fix or construct. He loved inventing solutions to problems and being creative in his shop with metal and machinery. His work ethic was insurmountable, and he was always a phone call away for advice, help, or a laugh. His favourite pastimes were teasing his loved ones, visiting over coffee at Kolisnyk's, and telling stories over a shot of whiskey. He loved passing time in the gazebo with Juanita and their dog, Pee Wee, chauffeuring her around the countryside while she photographed wildlife, and spending hours on his prized lawn mower.  He enjoyed auction saling and he and Juanita loved treasure hunting for unique items to construct lawn ornaments. His new-found joy was camping with his family in the Duck Mountains. Morris was known for his sense of humour and big, hearty laugh. He will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him.

A Celebration of Life was held for family and friends at the Cowan Community Centre on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Food and drinks were served. The internment was at the Cowan Cemetery on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.

If friends so desire, donations in Morris’ memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
