Stanley Harry Guimont

With heavy hearts the family of Stanley Harry Guimont announce his passing on December 26, 2017, in Swan River, Manitoba at the age of 77.

 

Stanley Guimont was born on June 21, 1940 to Sophie Renton (Jarroch). Stanley was raised in Edmonton, Alberta by his mother during his younger years. Stanley moved with his mother and Harve Guimont to Hay River, Northwest Territories until he was old enough to go on his own. His first job was in an auto body shop in Edmonton.

 

His mother married Harve Guimont, and Stan was adopted by Mr. Guimont when he was eighteen years old. At this time Stanley entered into the Army and joined the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infinity. He was in the Army for a few years then left to pursue new adventures.

 

Stanley went to work in Grand Rapids with his sister, Adeline Miron and brother in law, Bernie Miron. There he met his first wife, Katie Cook, and became a hunter, trapper, and fisherman. He has four children, Michelle Guimont, Stanley Guimont Jr., Kimberley Guimont, and Darren Guimont. His youngest daughter passed away when she was six years old. He resided in Grand Rapids for the next fifteen years. After that he worked under a contractor who worked for Manitoba Hydro. He moved from working for the contractor to full time Manitoba Hydro for the next twenty-five years.

 

During his time with Manitoba Hydro he resided in The Pas, Winnipeg, and Thompson. Stanley was employed with Manitoba Hydro and worked all over Manitoba until he retired in 2007 at the age of sixty-seven. Stanley remarried in August 1996 to Wanda Guimont (Branconnier) and resided on an acreage in Kenville, Manitoba.

 

Stanley loved to be outdoors and go camping, fishing, travelling, hunting, dancing, quading, and loved his job. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed having the company of his friends over to visit, as well as his peace and quiet.

 

Stanley will be loving remembered by his wife, Wanda Guimont; daughter, Michelle Guimont of Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba and Melissa Branconnier (Jared) of Thompson, Manitoba; sons, Stanley Guimont Jr. (Shelley) of The Pas, Manitoba, and Darren Guimont of Grand Rapids, Manitoba, Jason Jacobson (Amanda) of Birch River, Manitoba; sisters, Cecile McFadyen (Ken) and Adeline Miron; mother in law, Darlene Branconnier; father in law Sonny Branconnier; grandchildren, Barrett Snowdon, Kayton Chaput, Kelsey Chaput, Kimberly Chaput, Dakota Guimont, Dusty, Polly-Anne McKay, Judith Guimont, Kayla Guimont, William Guimont, Slade Jacobson, Jaida Jacobson, Jaydin Jacobson, Jay-lee Jacobson, Cheyenne Clemons, Devin Clemons, Armann Jonasson; and great grandchildren, Kya Chaput, Addison Chaput, Noah Chaput, Julian Guimont, Adriel Guimont, Damyon Snowdon, Able McKay, and Junior McKay.

 

Stanley is predeceased by his mother, Sophie Renton; daughter, Kimberly Guimont; brother in law, Bernie Miron; ex-mother in law, Eva Cook; and ex-father in law, Absolam Cook, from his past marriage.

 

The family would like to thank the Swan River Hospital staff, Palliative Care unit, The Brandon Cancer Care unit, and the Winnipeg Cancer Care unit.

 

Should friends and family so desire, memorial donations in honour of Stanley may be made to the Swan Valley Health Facilities Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, Box 1450, Swan River, Manitoba  R0L 1Z0

 

In accordance with Stanley’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
