Stuart Annie Hinchliffe Obituary

Ann Hinchliffe

1943 – 2019

Ann was born January 17, 1943 to Stuart and Agnes Shiel.  She grew up on a farm outside of Minitonas.

On June 29, 1962 she married Allan Hinchliffe and moved to Bowsman. They had three children; Donald (Sherry), Robin (Claudette) and Darlene Unrau (Ted).  They had four beautiful granddaughters; Alycia Leclerc (Leon), Jolene (Graham), Gina Main (James), and Rachelle Main (Ryan). One great grandson, Dominic.

Allan and Ann’s house was always open for company and if anyone dropped by unexpectedly, they were always served a cup of tea, a light lunch or supper.

Ann loved spending time with family and friends, gardening, canning, baking, crocheting, embroidery, reading, playing crib, playing canasta and travelling. She travelled to the West Coast, the East Coast, and Texas, with places in between like Niagara Falls, The Black Hills and Vegas. She experienced an Alaskan cruise in 2009. She made two trips to Hawaii where she ate coconut cream malasadas from Leonard’s bakery as well as cream puffs from Liliha Bakery. She also tried poi at a luau, drank Rum from a pineapple and saw an Elvis impersonator.

Ann had various interests over the years and had collections of Barbies, brooches, dog ornaments, rings and earrings. She enjoyed country music and attended Dauphin’s Country Fest several times.

She loved telling stories about growing up on the farm with her brother Reid Shiel (Georgina) and sister Alanna Garrioch (Randy).

After Allan passed away September 11, 2015, Ann moved to Minitonas and resided in the First Baptist Pioneer Lodge where she enjoyed doing puzzles and visiting neighbours.

Ann was a beautiful, caring, and generous Mother, Mother in law, Grandmother, Sister, Sister In Law, Aunt and Friend.

She passed away quietly on September 16, 2019 at the Health Science Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
