Valerie Mary Boyd House

It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on October 11, 2017, with her family by her side.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Coleen (Don), Sherrie (Rich), and Colin; her grandchildren, Nathan, April (James), and David; step grandchildren, Lacey (Paul and Rylee), and Kyle; great grandchildren, Mackayla, Alex, Brooklyn, and Kendall; sisters Patricia Sims of Bowsman, Manitoba, and Audrey Snell of Lancing, England.

Mom was born in New Haven, Sussex, England on March 1, 1934. After completing nursing training, together with her older sister, Stella, they immigrated to Canada, settling first in Toronto, then to Winnipeg, and The Pas, Manitoba.

Mom met Dad in Bowsman while visiting with her sister Pat and family. They were united in marriage July 21, 1962. Together with unconditional love and devotion, they created a loving and caring home for their children. She loved Dad very much and they shared 32 years together before Dad passed away in 1994.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, a sister, and her soulmate and love of her life, Howard in 1994.

Mom had a heart of gold and her passion was her family. Her kindness, guidance, and willingness to always help us was unconditional. She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Thank you Mom - you are forever in our hearts and we have been so blessed to have had you in our lives.

A prayer service was held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services, Swan River, Manitoba. The funeral service took place from St. Columba Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 with Father Roy Vazhaplankudiyil officiating. Interment followed in the Bowsman Cemetery.
