Alexander Kluke
1936 - 2025
Alexander Kluke of Benito passed away on February 8, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, at the age of 88 years.
Alex was born to Fredrick and Anne (Hubic) on the original Kluke homestead of Eelya and Paraskevia Kluk, in the RM of St. Phillips, on May 16, 1936. He was the oldest brother of Eugene and Phyllis.
Alex resided on the family farm with his parents and brother until May 1979. He then moved into Benito with Baba and Gido and continued to live at home until this past December.
Alex attended Benito School. He farmed alongside his brother Eugene for over 60 years and retired in 2008, renting their land to neighbor Earl Unruh.
Alex also worked seasonally for 14 years with CN Rail, posted at Baden, Durban, and Benito. As well, he worked stockyards in both Benito and Swan River.
He enjoyed the recreational sports of curling, bowling, playing pool, fishing and camping. Many games of pool were played at Milroy’s Café in Benito and in his later years the Senior Centre. Alex always enjoyed going out for daily coffee and visiting with local farmers and friends.
Alex was a long-time member of the Benito Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his sister Phyllis Soroka, sister-in-law Kathleen Kluke, nephew Rob Soroka, nieces Kyla Kluke (Darrell), Rubieann Kluke (Ken), great nephew Derek Soroka (Katy) and their children Elizabeth and David Soroka, great niece Katrina Rocha (Corey) and their child Boone. His aunt Rose Sas is also left to mourn his memory.
Alex is predeceased by his parents Fredrick and Anne Kluke, his brother Eugene Kluke, his brother-in-law Ed Soroka, and niece Joanne Soroka.
