Alfreda Fulford Obituary

                                                             Alfreda (Kokot, Mohr) Fulford

                                                         October 20, 1930 -  March 2, 2023

Born to Adolf and Lydia (Fenski) Kokot at her parents' farm east of Minitonas.  Her parents and four older siblings, along with grandmother, Paulina Kokot, had emigrated from Wolyn, Poland in the summer of 1928.  In 1931 the family moved to a farm 6 miles northwest of Minitonas.

Alfreda took her Elementary grades at West Favelle School under the watchful eyes of many good teachers, but Florence (Grant) Henderson left the greatest impression on her character and her "hands"!  Yes, the teachers were allowed to use the strap, probably for the betterment of all concerned.  High school found her in Minitonas and she considered herself fortunate to be able to attend at that time.  She was not the top student, but loved the comradery and sports.

At age 16 Alfreda acknowledged Christ as Savior and was water baptized by Rev. Kornalowski in the Swan River north of Minitonas.

While permit teaching in the Roblin, MB area in 1947, she met Daniel Mohr, a local farmer.  October 12, 1949, saw them married at Minitonas Baptist Church.  They farmed at Roblin for several years, but after two crop failures they moved to a rented farm in the Minitonas municipality in 1951 and never looked back!

The Mohrs were blessed with four sons: Murray Allan, Melvin Paul, Kenneth Robert, and Gary Cameron, each bringing a unique and special personality to the family.  Over the years, daughters-in-law, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren were added to bring further joy, plus several more by the boys' marriages.

Alfreda had a fulfilling, active and happy life, always looking forward to new adventures and friends, and she finally realized she had worked herself out of "jobs" as they were able to replace her in the fields and often in the house!  One chore she did not mind giving up was the daily milking.

In 1986, Dan passed away after battling cancer for nine months.  This left a great void in the family.

In 1993, Alfreda married a long-time family friend, Keith Fulford.  They eventually left the farm to move to a condo in Swan River in 1997 to enjoy retired life.  Both Alfreda and Keith moved into the Swan Valley Lodge later on.

The family lost a son and brother, Melvin Mohr, to cancer on May 1, 2014.

Left to mourn Alfreda's passing are husband, Keith, her sons Murray Mohr and Beryl (children Randy Cowan, Kerri Arvisais and families); Kenneth Mohr and Joan (daughters Katherine Bogoslowski, Jennifer Warkentin, Peggy Reimer and families); and Gary Mohr and Andrea and their daughters Sabrina (Matt Atkinson) (Walker, Madden, Beckham, Kessler Atkinson), Tanelle, and Shannon; Melvin's children Dale Mohr (Gillian and Jonathan); and Shonda Mohr (Zarine, Topanga, Freedom, Thayden, Kade).  Also surviving is sister Elizabeth (Allan) Kiffiak of Edmonton, AB, sister-in-law Sylvia Kokot of Kelowna, BC brother -in-law Jack (Agnes) Mohr of Winnipeg, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Alfreda was predeceased by husband Dan Mohr (1986), son Melvin Mohr (2014), brother William Kokot (1945) of Holland, Europe, mother Lydia Kokot (1965), father Adolf Kokot (1982), baby sister Elsie (1937),    sister Erna Seib (1989), brother Reynold Kokot (1996), sister Ida Steinke (2009) of Kamloops, BC,  brother Leonard Kokot (2022) of Kelowna, BC, brothers-in-law Ephraim Steinke (2003) of Kamloops, BC and Otto Seib (2003) of Swan River, MB, sisters-in-law Dorothy Kokot (2009) of Winnipeg and Marie Mohr (2023) of Roblin, MB, and daughter-in-law Kellie Anaka (2022) of Denare Beach, SK.

To sum it up, mom was a good mom and a loving mom.  She was open-minded to suggestions and it made it very easy and a pleasure for us to do things for her and look after her in her later years.  Mom, you will be missed by all.
