Alice Riddell, a long-time resident of Swan River, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2021. She was born on August 23, 1931 to the late Edward and Barbara Clark of Minnedosa, Manitoba.

Alice spoke fondly of her brother Jim and the numerous adventures they shared growing up in Minnedosa. In her youth, she was an avid baseball player, and she spent many summers working at Clear Lake. In the late 1940s, Alice moved to Swan River to take a job as a telephone operator and soon after met Glenn Riddell. Alice and Glenn married in July, 1950, raised five children, and were married for sixty-one years.

Being involved in her children’s activities, band booster club, music festivals, 4-H, and sporting events, was always important to Alice. Later in life, she made a point to closely follow the activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very proud ‘Grandma’ and ‘GG’.

The family cabin at Madge Lake is where Alice went above and beyond, giving her children and their friends great summers to remember. She had a great sense of humour and a special wit that was enjoyed by all who knew her. Alice’s talent in the kitchen was legendary, and she will be fondly remembered for her chocolate chip cookies, pies, homemade rolls and cinnamon buns.

Alice was a life-time member of the Rebekahs, and a member of the United Church, the UCW, and the local drama club.

Alice and Glenn did a lot of travelling, enjoying ocean cruises and touring Europe and Asia. They eventually settled in their winter home in Apache Junction, Arizona, where they enjoyed many winters golfing, socializing, and spending time with good friends.

Alice is survived by her children: Barbara Waitt (Norman), Glenda Maltais, Heather Watson (Barry), Archie Riddell (Donna Mae), and Steven (Janet); grandchildren: Brent, Janice (John), Michelle (Kelly), Deanna (Craig), Heather (Michael), Kristi, Lindy, Kayla (Jeff), Lesley (Michael), Darcy (Lindsay), Jeff (Kaili), Marty (Karly), Patrick and Liam and great-grandchildren: Tyra, Calib, Stephin, Ali, McKenna, Matthew, Michaella, Tori, Jack, Emmy, Alice, Stella, Lilianna, Matteo, Lucas, Brody, Carson, Everleigh, Gracie, Brooks, Taylor and Abby.

She is also survived by her brother Jim Clark and numerous nieces and nephews, Telayne, Shawn, Kevin, Stanley, Susan, Brian, Keith, and families.
