Amara Michelle Campbell
2005 - 2020
Hearts have been broken with the passing of Amara Michelle Campbell, daughter of Blair and Lee-Anne Campbell. On September 14, 2020, Amara peacefully left this life from her home, with her parents at her side. Amara endured a courageous nineteen-month battle with childhood cancer.
On July 6, 2005 Lee-Anne and Blair were blessed to have Amara arrive safely to join her big brother Joel and completing their family. Amara was a beautiful baby with her fair skin and dark features. She had a relaxed, pleasant personality, as long as her mom was in sight. She quickly won over big brother Joel and he always watched over her. Even as a baby Amara had such expressive eyes that would sparkle with her wide smile. She was a quiet, deep thinking girl from a young age. When Amara spoke, people would listen. When feeling comfortable she could be loud and goofy with a dry sense of humor.
Amara’s early education was completed at Minitonas schools. She enjoyed various learning opportunities, including many sports, band, and the Leadership Team. She was popular with the young kids at recess time. Amara was interested in a career in healthcare. She had been looking forward to experiencing high school life. Sadly, Amara’s life plan was interrupted when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma cancer.
Amara enjoyed so many things. Playing games, making special cards, crafts, rock painting, friendship bracelets, cats, horses and rodeo events, lake life, spaghetti, smores and ice-cream, baking and cupcake decorating; tv show with cooking and home renovations, Taylor Swift music, time with cousins and friends, watching Joel play hockey and cheering for the Winnipeg Jets (especially the captain). Also keeping up to date on Snap Chat and Instagram were daily priorities.
Amara’s family will remember her inner strength and quiet determination. She bravely carried on with life even when faced with a terminal illness at such a tender age. She found a way to cope with the tragic loss of her brother earlier this year. She agreed to have the story of her cancer journey used to help other kids. She focused on each day in front of her and wanted to be treated the same as any teenager.
Amara is survived by: her parents Blair and Lee-Anne Campbell; grandparents Johnny and Diane Kichuk and Harold and Lorraine Campbell; aunts/uncles/cousins: Wendy Kichuk (Bethany, Abby and Josie) and Kevin Barker (Brayden and Blair); Laurie and Lee Evans (Blake); Neil and Brenna Kichuk (Hallie, Nyah and Connor); Brad and Rose Marie Campbell (Tyne (Kenyon), Tori (Jordan and kids) and Drake); Kim and Barry Campbell (Jayvin and Rory); Blaine and Jen Campbell (Hannah and Alex); her beloved cat Pippy and the family dog Buddy. Predeceased by her loving brother Joel in January 2020.
She treasured all of her family members and her four childhood best friends. Amara and her family have been blessed with love and support from so many people across Swan River Valley and further.
Hearts smiled and ached over the last months watching Amara persevere every day. Those who loved Amara grieve her loss of a full life of experiences. She has left behind many lessons and special memories to be treasured by her parents, family and friends.
A drive by book signing was held Monday, September 21, 2020 from 11:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m. at the Swan Valley Historic Museum Grounds. A private family service and interment followed, with Rev. Kathy Highmoor officiating.
