Bruce was born April 23rd, 1939, to Charlie and Elizabeth Brandson. He passed September 24, 2022, at the Swan Valley Health Centre with family by his side. After spending many days in Winnipeg hospital, he was glad to be back in Swan River with family.
At the age of seventeen Bruce left Swan River to venture out west to find a job. He found work in Edmonton at a garage as a delivery truck driver transporting automobile parts throughout the city. He left Edmonton to venture further west and north into the N.W.T to drive truck moving oil rigs for a drilling company. He also worked as a “Rough Neck" on the rigs.
In 1962 he returned to the valley (Big Woody) and purchased a half section of land. He started farming with his father and brother Bev. The acres of land he farmed grew and farming became his life until he retired and moved into town in 2007.
Once in town (Swan River) he became a member of the Lions Club, volunteered for Services to Seniors and became a board member for the museum. Working on and showing his 57 Ford Mercury truck became a passion. The coffee shop outings with his friends became a daily routine.
His favorite past time was hockey. In the seventies he played with the “Old Timers" hockey team. He spent many hours driving Ron and Derek to hockey practices, games and tournaments throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan and even USA. In recent years, Stampeder hockey games and curling have kept him occupied in the winter. Bruce enjoyed watching his grandkids play their games of hockey, football, and baseball.
Bruce liked to travel. During the many years together we traveled to Disneyland, Sweden, Ireland, Mexico, Cuba, and 2 bus tours (one to Branson, Missouri) and (one to the Maritimes). He most enjoyed his trip to Hawaii with all the family. He always wanted to go on a cruise to Alaska and did so with Cheryl and her family on his 80th birthday.
Bruce will be dearly missed by his wife of 48 years, Margaret, and their children Myrna (Paul Klein), Ron, Derek (Marissa), Cheryl (Robert Schmitt), and Adrienne.
Also left to mourn his passing are his grandchildren, whom he adored Austin, Eric, and Kyle (Klein), Nicklas, and Zackary (Brandson), Ian, Owen, Kellan, and Cara (Schmitt), Daria (Brandson), Zenon & Jayde, his brothers Bev Brandson and Milton (Maureen) Brandson. He will be missed by nieces (Shelley, Laura, Melanie, and Erin) and nephews (Kevin, Keith & Trent), cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother and father (Liz and. Charlie Brandson), brother Ralph, Sister Muriel (Bramall), brother-in-law Bob Bramall, sister-in-law Myrna (Brandson), and niece Shauna (Brandson).
