It is with profound sadness that the family of Darlene Beck (Greig) announce her sudden passing on April 14, 2023, at the age of 62.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband and best friend of 46 years Howard; children: Stacey, Riley and Jarett (Kaili); mother: Ronalee Greig; siblings: Tim (Lee), Kevin (Pam) and Tracey; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her father Murray Greig; mother and father-in-law Frances and Steve Beck; and brother-in-law Dwight Doversipke.
Darlene was born in Benito Manitoba on August 19, 1960 and grew up in the Swan River Valley where she met her high school sweetheart and husband Howard. They married on July 10, 1982 and settled into life raising their three children in Swan River.
Darlene lived her life for her children and family, always going above and beyond to fill any role required: care giver, ear to listen, chauffer, activities coordinator, referee, and above all the voice of kindness and compassion. She loved curling and spent countless hours at rinks for bonspiels, teaching, and fundraising. When she couldn’t be on the ice, she spent her summers camping with Howard where they enjoyed time around the fire or at the beach with friends.
Her involvement with the community ran deep as she volunteered whenever asked for countless organizations and functions from the Curling Club, Brownies and Guides to Safe Grad and more. Her selflessness, kindness and dedication always shined through in everything she did. Her family is extremely proud and amazed at her ability to positively impact a community and so many people by simply being who she was.
The family would like to send heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in Darlene’s care in her time of need, as well as the community outpouring of support over the last week.
A private family service will be held with a Celebration of Life to follow at a later date.
