Della Hryhoryshen

1934 – 2020

On September 23, 2020 Della Catherine (Reimer) Hryhoryshen of Swan River, Manitoba, formerly of Pine River, Manitoba, and formerly of Steinbach, Manitoba passed away at the age of 86 years.

She is survived by her loving children, Mark Hryhoryshen of Abbotsford, British Columbia and James Hryhoryshen of Airdrie, Alberta; three nephews, Marlin Reimer, Perry Reimer, and Carlin Broesky; one niece, Tammi Broesky; one brother, Garnet Reimer of Steinbach. Della was predeceased by her loving husband, Metro Hryhoryshen and sister, Vicky Broesky.

Della was born on August 27, 1934 in Steinbach to Agnes and John F. Reimer. On March 14, 1936, her brother Garnet Reimer was born and then in the summer of 1954 Vicki was adopted into the family as a two-month-old baby.

Some time after completing high school she attended and graduated in 1961 from a two-year program at Briercrest Bible Institute. In 1969 she graduated from the St. Boniface School of Practical Nursing. She worked only two years before meeting Dad, Metro Hryhoryshen of Pine River and married him in 1971. On March 28, 1972 their first child, Mark, was born and then December 18, 1973, the second child, James, was born.

Mom really enjoyed nursing, became a home care nurse later on, enjoyed plays, concerts, productions, live music, eating out and family gatherings. Later, she enjoyed crafts, embroidery and her favourite…reading. For many years Mom was very involved at the Pine River Evangelical Church. She helped at various community events, did some public speaking, and worked as a home care nurse for over ten years; all the while looking after her family and home.

Her favourite Bible verse, “Be strong and of good courage, fear not nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Deuteronomy 3:16

An evening viewing was held on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. from Living Word Ministries in Swan River, Manitoba. The funeral service was held on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. from Living Word Ministries with interment following in the Pine River United Church Cemetery, Pine River, Manitoba, with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating.
