Delmar Walter Lambert
1941 – 2025
On April 14, 2025, our father, grandpa and great grandpa passed away at the Swan Valley Lodge at the age of 83 years.
Del was born in Swan River on October 30, 1941, being the 4th of 5 children to Harry and Gertrude Lambert. He was raised on the family farm in the Shaw District south of Swan River.
Del married Edwina Ray on September 20, 1960, and they had a daughter, Glenda (David) Peyton, Swan River and a son Clayton (Karla) Rocky Mountain House, AB.
Survived by Del are his three grandchildren, Tim (Nicole) Peyton, Holly (Jacob) Young, Marty (Jacy) Peyton, and 2 great grandsons, Wesley and Samuel Young as well as his siblings Carole (Stuart) Cowan and his brother-in-law Keith Kennedy and many nieces and nephews.
Del was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Gertrude, sisters Arlie Beattie and Ariel Kennedy, and brother Glenn and daughter in law Darla.
Over the years of employment, he worked for Lucas & Woods, Bill Neiman, Anglo Oil, C.P. Sorenson and Son, and then went into the excavating business on his own for many years. Following that he went to work for Northern Affairs in Thompson and The Pas. When he retired from the government and moved back to the valley he looked after the water treatment plants for the RM of Mountain. After complete retirement they built a cottage at Whitefish Lake and lived there until health issues had them move to a suite in Swan River.
Del had a very big heart and kind soul and wanted to be helping in any way he could. He loved being with his wife, children and grandchildren whether it be fishing, sledding, quadding, helping on the farm, gardening, tinkering in the shop, crop checking, or feeding the dogs at the farm. He was always busy doing something and it had to be done right. His time at home was to read a novel, watch curling and hockey or help cook because the family was coming. He liked his old-time music and loved to dance.
Del was involved with the Swan River Ag Society, The Pas Lions, and the Whitefish Lake Cottage Owners Association.
Del is the one whom we will remember with warmth, think of with pride, and cherish with love remembering his wisdom and strength.
If friends so desire, memorial donations in memory of Del may be made to Swan River Lions Medical Assistance Fund Box 1263 Swan River, MB R0L 1Z0
