1940 - 2022
Derwyn “Dutch” “Dervy” Thomas Taylor, of Swan River, Manitoba, passed away in the Swan River Valley Hospital on August 19th, 2022, with his best friend and loving partner, Carol, by his side.
Derwyn was born in Birch River to Mary and Thomas Taylor on September 6th 1940.
Derwyn spent most of his youth in Manitoba until he moved to British Columbia to work at his accomplished trade as an electrician. He worked throughout the province in such places as Ocean Falls, Kitimat, Salmon Arm, and finally Kamloops where he worked for the Weyerhauser Pulp Mill until his retirement.
While in BC, Derwyn was married and he and his wife raised 3 children in the small community of Pritchard BC, just east of Kamloops. As well as raising his own children, Derwyn fostered and cared for several other children.
While living in Pritchard he was involved in many activities and organizations. He was a board member, and a president for one term, of the Pritchard community association, an active member of the BC Cowboy Heritage Society and a big supporter of the local Legions.
Later in Life Derwyn made a life change and returned to Swan River where he met his love and life partner Carol Danielson with whom he enjoyed his remaining years.
Derwyn was also an active member of the Swan River Legion and Swan River Lions Club.
Derwyn is proceeded in death by his parents Mary and Thomas, his sister Sharon, brother Delmar, and grandson Myles.
Derwyn is survived by his loving partner Carol Danielson, daughter Lisa Allarie (Fern), son Erik Taylor (Lara), daughter Alice Taylor, Brother Kelly Taylor (Elenor), grandchildren Brayden Segal, Jesyka Taylor and Rebekya Taylor. Derwyn is also survived by the mother of his six children, Judy Taylor. There are several nieces, nephews and extended family who he loved no differently than if they’d always been a part of his life. Derwyn will also be missed by Spotty, his loyal canine companion.
