Diane Sylvester Obituary

Diane Elizabeth Sylvester

1934 - 2021

Mom passed away peacefully, with her family at her side on January 27, 2021 at the age of 86.  Mom was born September 2, 1934 in Carberry, Manitoba, the oldest child of Tom and Mary Waring.  Diane married our dad and the love of her life, Jim, in Carberry on April 20, 1955.  Together they made their homes and many friends, and raised their family in Carberry, San Clara, and Swan River.

Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Jim; her parents Tom and Mary Waring; her sister and brother in law, Frances and Gerald Scott; sister in law Betty Waring; grandsons Cory Bailey and Randy Sylvester; and son in law Murray Bailey.

Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memories are her children, Larry, Brian (Deb), Shawna, Teresa (Ian), Brad (Karen), and Jodi; her brother Donald (Shirley), brothers in law Ken (Joe), Gerry (Maureen), Donny (Helen), and Henry (Margie).  Mom also leaves twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as many great and cherished friends.

Mom’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family.  Camping, golfing, winter vacations, and just being around her kids and grandkids.  She had an immense sense of pride in her family, no matter where everyone ended up or what paths we chose.  In her eyes, all six of us were her favourite.  Her love for her family was totally unconditional and pure.

Mom devoted and dedicated endless volunteer hours to those who were in need. She was a member (Past Honored Royal Lady) of the Royal Purple, a devoted member (lay reader) of the St. James Anglican Church, volunteer, and board member for Service for Seniors, as well as many other organizations that needed a driver, baking, or any helping hand.  Even in her later years her calendar was always full as she would never say no to anyone asking for help.

All that knew mom were considered a friend.  She loved to sing and dance.  Her love for life was never limited by her age.  She loved golfing three or four times a week with her special golf buddies.  Mom enjoyed life to the fullest, always working or playing, rarely resting.  Always giving and sharing, guiding, and helping. Mom took nothing for granted and was blessed with great health and an unequalled zest for life.  Mom was very comfortable with her God and passed away with no fear or regrets.

In keeping with Diane’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.

"Welcome mom into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy.”
