Donna Irene Staniland
1944 - 2024
Surrounded by the love of her family, Donna Irene Staniland passed peacefully August 5, 2024, at the age of 80 years.
Donna was born at the Hunters Nursing Home in Swan River on January 22, 1944, the seventh daughter of John (Jack) and Vida (Lardner) Hogg. She was raised at the family farm in Big Woody until they moved to Lenswood in 1953. Donna attended the Misericordia School of Nursing and graduated in 1965. She married Bruce Arthur Staniland August 28, 1965 and settled down on the family farm at Minitonas where they raised their family.
When Donna wasn’t caring for people at the hospital, she was caring for her home. You would find her singing in her magnificent garden, hanging clothes to dry, sewing a quilt for a new grandbaby, reading a book or doing a puzzle. Her home smelled deliciously of baked goods. She was in perpetual motion.
Donna leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 59 years, Bruce Staniland, son Ken Staniland, daughter Ione (Bruce) Anderson, daughter-in-law Tanya Staniland, daughter Joyce (Kevin) Williams, grandchildren Austen, Katie, Breanna, Wade, Morgan, Jorja, Lincoln, Ben, Quincey, great grandchildren Finley, Remi, Ember. She was predeceased by her son Melvin and numerous family members and friends whom she treasured.
We will miss the wisdom that she shared, the hugs she gave so freely and the friendship and kindness that flowed from her beautiful heart.
