Peacefully on June 17, 2020 Doug passed away.

Doug was born November 4, 1943 in Swan River, Manitoba. He was the second oldest of Ernie and Vida Larocque’s family. He grew up on the family farm in Lenswood, Manitoba. Doug’s early years he attended different schools; Swan Woody, Brierly, and Bowsman in the winter.

After leaving home Doug worked a few years in construction. He got the call to the ministry after a horrible fire experience at his workplace. Even though Dough had difficulties in life he still pursued his GED, first class boiler engineer, and Class 1 license. Doug was a maintenance man at various apartment blocks in Winnipeg until his retirement.

In 1997 Doug bought a truck and trailer. For approximately twenty years Doug went south to New Mexico and Texas for the winter. He would stop at various Christian conventions along the way and meet new friends. For the summer Doug would spend his time with his nephew, Lloyd Burghart and family, in the Bowsman area, and with his brother Lawrence and family in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Doug was predeceased by his parents Ernie and Vida Larocque; and brother Glen. He is survived by his siblings Erma (Bill) Burghart of Bowsman, Lawrence (Gladys) Larocque of Winnipeg, Geraldine (Lorne) Triska of Breton, Alberta, Sharon Larocque of Winnipeg, Arthur Larocque of Swan River, and Karie (Norman) Eggie of Swan River; aunt Agnes Larocque of Birch River, Manitoba; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Doug had a deep faith in God. In 1963 Doug made his choice to serve Good and was true to his choice until the end. In his younger years he was called into the ministry and spent nine years there. Due to health issues, Doug had to leave the ministry. He was diligent in helping other seek God and to be true to their commitment until he wasn’t able anymore.

The family would like to thank the Oakview Place for the great care Doug received during his short time there.

A funeral service was held at Korbans Funeral Chapel in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Scott McChestney and Betty Ann Waddell officiating. A funeral service was held from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services, Swan River, on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Jon Moore, Dale Wipf, and Kathy Waddell officiating. Interment followed in the Bowsman Cemetery, Bowsman, Manitoba.
