In Loving Memory of Elsie (Yaremchuk) Mychalchuk (1935-2025) at the age of 89 Years.

With heavy hearts and endless love, we announce the peaceful passing of Elsie Mychalchuk on

February 7, 2025 at the Swan Valley Health Centre in Swan River, Manitoba with family at her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (baba), great-grandmother, sister and aunt whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.

Elsie will be forever remembered by her husband Walter of 71 Years and their five children:

Larry (late Jackie) and Evelyn, Audrey (Bert) Barry, Carol (Wilf) Huebsch, Michael (Sandy)

Marlene (Brian) Kafara. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to eleven grandchildren:

Clayton (Tracy) and Jamie (Ashley), Joddi, Morgan (Chad) and Brandy, Krista and Shawn (Kara), Kaij (Meghan) and Lane (Rhett), Chadwick (Alissa) and Troy (Constance).  Her love extended to her sixteen great-grandchildren Laryssa and Mason, Karlee and Dane, Hayden, Colton, Levi and Cooper, Finn, Maks and Eleanor, Jaxon, Macklin and Nev, Grace and Lincoln.

Elsie is also survived by her sister’s Nellie (late Leonard) Bartko and Marilyn (Mervin) Holinaty as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Sophia Yaremchuk, her sister’s Annie (late Carl) Nichiporuk and infant Sister Olga, also brother’s Lucas, Samuel (late Olga), Michael and Walter Yaremchuk.

Born on June 7, 1935 in Venn, Saskatchewan, Elsie later moved to the family farm in the Grahamville District. On May 16, 1953 she married Walter and together they built a life on the Mychalchuk farm, raising their five children. In 1990 they moved to their current home, where she continued to fill their lives with love and warmth.

Elsie was a hardworking and dedicated homemaker, from milking cows to tending enormous gardens, preserving countless jars of homemade goodness. Family gatherings were always centered around her kitchen, where a roast or a chicken was always in the oven. She cherished her family and found joy in a house full of loved ones.

A gentle and quiet soul, Elsie’s strength, resilience, and love for her family were admired by all. She had a passion for her flower gardens filling every corner of her yard with petunias, lilies, geraniums, and other vibrant flowers. In her younger years, crocheting was one of her favorite hobbies and her handmade doilies and afghans will forever be treasured keepsakes. She enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles and in her later years never missed her 4:00 p.m. Judge Judy time - a ritual that always made us smile.

Elsie loved feeding the birds in Winter, though she was never pleased with the squirrels!  She loved seeing and hearing the call of the first Robin in the Spring.

Elsie enjoyed family and friends from near and far, stopping by for a visit and conversation, she was always quick to serve coffee and lunch or often times an entire meal!

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr Adeboyegga and Dr. Allen, nurses, and staff for the compassionate care they provided.

In keeping with Elsie’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba 2211 McPhillips St RM 209 Winnipeg, MB R2V 3M 5 or The Arthritis Society of Canada 220 Bay St Ste 300 Toronto, ON M5J 2W4.

“God chose you as His angel to watch over us, to guide and advise us, and to remind us that we are still loved. You will forever be in our hearts.” Rest In Peace and may God bless you always.
