Evelyn Edythe Eagle (née Zander)
April 4, 1944 – November 28, 2025
It is with deep sadness that the family of Evelyn Edythe Eagle announces her passing on November 28, 2025, at the age of 81. Evelyn was born on April 4, 1944, in Benito, Manitoba, where she spent her early years in the Alpine district and built a life rooted in family, faith, and community.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Stuart Eagle (2004); her mother, Doris Zander (1999); her father, Gunnar Zander (2005); and her granddaughter, Hannah Eagle (2000).
She is survived by her children, Garry (Lorrie), Twylla (Mark), Dwayne, and Tracey (Peter), who were the centre of her world. Evelyn also leaves behind her greatest joys, her grandchildren: Drew (Krista), Braden (Kaylyn), Joshua (Jacob), Steele (Karina), Rhett, Luke, and Matthew; and her precious great-grandsons, Owen and Kaiden. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings Marilyn (Roy), Doreen (Frank), Doug (Sharon), and Sharon (Al), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Evelyn married Stuart on December 15, 1962, and together they built a life filled with hard work, devotion, and deep family connection. As a farmwife, she poured her heart into caring for her family and home. Mom showed her love through cooking, baking, and constant hospitality, no one ever left her kitchen hungry. She always made sure that family and friends were welcomed with their favourite foods, desserts, and treats. A talented baker, mom enjoyed decorating cakes for weddings and birthdays that filled those moments with sweetness.
For many years, mom partnered in a catering business, providing countless meals for weddings, community gatherings, and special events. Her gifts in the kitchen were matched only by her kindness. She was a Godly woman, active in her church, and spent many years teaching Sunday school, nurturing the hearts of young children.
Mom will be remembered as one of the kindest, most generous, and most gentle souls. She had a special way with children and her grandchildren cherish their memories of baking alongside her, learning family recipes, and knowing that her cupboards and fridge were always filled with their favourite treats. Mom leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and quiet strength.
She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her and experience her warmth and kindness.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Benito Health Care Centre for their exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Evelyn and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Benito Health Centre Box 490 Benito, MB R0L 0C0.
