Fred Evans
1948 – 2020
Fred Evans was born January 27, 1948 in Thicket Portage, Manitoba. He is predeceased by his brothers, Jack Evans and John Evans; his mother, Louisa Moose; his father Jacob Evans.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; children, Loretta -Coyote (Gerald) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Yvonne-Pie (Nick) of Swan River, Manitoba, Andrea (fiancé Marc) of Swan River, Jeremy (Vanessa) of Winnipeg, and his youngest daughter Christine-Lady of Swan River; grandchildren, Jenna (Curtis), Eric, Joshua, Jude, Korbin, Elijah, Ezra, Zoe, Kovy, Marcus, Elighja, Mason, Noah, Matthew, Isaiah, and Aaron-AJ.; his sisters, Annie (Barney) Ducharme of Cormorant, Manitoba, Margaret Keeper (Walter-deceased) of Split Lake, Manitoba, Elizabeth-Liz (Bert) Genaille of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Maryanne Baker (Don-deceased); many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention; his sister in laws, Shirley Linklater of Swan River, Heather Charlette (Peter-deceased) of Cranberry Portage, Manitoba; also by his family, his mother, Regina-Oma (John-Opa-deceased), Ken (Carolee) Neufeld, Lorna (Andrew) Braun; Audrey (Neil) Rempel; Rick (Ann) Neufeld, Ruth Neufeld, Don (Agnes) Neufeld, Connie Reimer (Hugo-deceased).
Fred met Charlotte at the Keewatin Community College in The Pas, Manitoba. They were married on August 5, 1972 in Cranberry Portage, Manitoba. They went to Keewatin Bible School in Lac La Biche, Alberta in 1975. Fred graduated in 1978, when they went into full-time ministry. They lived in Thompson, Manitoba for seven years; they have resided in Swan River for the past thirty years.
Fred was a faithful servant of God and led many people to the Lord. Fred was kind and treated everyone equal. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren. He was a mentor to many young people and greatly loved by so many. So many lives have been touched through his preaching, Tribal Trails, and his radio program on Native Communications Inc. (NCI). His final accomplishment was interpreting the whole New Testament into the Cree language, sponsored by the Canadian Bible Society.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

There was an evening visitation held Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services. A wake was held Friday, March 6, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. from the Veteran’s Community Hall, Swan River. The funeral service took place on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Veteran’s Community Hall with Derrick Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River.
