Gerald Wesley Yingst

Obituary

Gerald passed away peacefully at the age of 73 years at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his wife, Mavis Yingst; mother and father, Marjorie and Orville Yingst; mother and father in-law, Freda and Steve Semchyshyn; brothers, Maurice and Larry and sisters, Lois and Janice.  Gerald is survived by his sisters, Sharon (Norman) Juell and Beverly (Allen) McMullen; sisters in-law Kay and Rosemarie and brother in-law Scott Summerfeldt along with numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends. Gerald was born in Radville, SK and grew up in Pangman, SK.  Following his father’s passing in 1971, Gerald was a very devoted son to his mother until she passed in 2011.  Gerald worked on his brother Larry’s farm which originally was the Pow farm where his mother was raised.  Gerald also did carpentry work and worked at Town and Country Propane for his brother Maurice in Calgary.  Gerald retired after 16 years from CMS metals in 2014. Gerald married the love of his life Mavis on July 18, 1992. Gerald was a dedicated and loving husband to Mavis.  Gerald was Mavis’ caregiver up until she went into a care facility.  Gerald could be found visiting her three times a day to assist feeding her and caring for her needs.  He arranged to visit Mavis through the window at her nursing home during the COVID 19 pandemic.  He was faithfully by her side until her passing in 2020. Gerald will be remembered for volunteering every Christmas as a Salvation Army Christmas Bell Ringer, his love of his family and friends, his faith, his enjoyment of many sports especially hockey and football and for the joy he found when making friends while out for a walk.  Gerald also enjoyed golfing in Hawaii. The family would like to thank the care team at Pasqua Hospital in Regina for the care provided to Gerald. We would also like to thank those that faithfully visited Gerald in the hospital.
