Geraldene May Quon

1949 - 2026

Born Geraldene (Denie) May Turton on January 8, 1949 in Swan River, she was raised on the family farm and remained deeply connected to the Swan Valley throughout her life.  After completing her schooling in Swan River, she pursued her passion for caring for others by attaining her Registered Nursing designation.  She went on to dedicate over 30 years of service to both Swan Valley Hospital and Public Health in Swan River, where she was respected for her compassion, kindness, and commitment to her community.  

In 1971, she married Albert Quon, and together they built a life and raised their family only a stone’s throw from the farm where she grew up.  Their home was one filled with love, laughter, and hospitality.  She enjoyed doing many activities with the kids as they grew up from berry picking at Whitefish Lake, camping, and family trips.

Mom had many passions throughout her life.  She loved square dancing, gardening, quilting, and exploring new places.  She looked forward every spring to seeing the gardens come alive with colour and vibrant blooms.  Her quilts were treasured gifts, lovingly made for her children’s weddings, welcoming her grandchildren, and for many nieces and nephews over the years.  Through every stitch, she created lasting reminders of her love and generosity.  

Above all else, Mom cherished her family.  She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, whether it was family outings to the zoo, gatherings at home, or simply enjoying one another’s company.  Her warmth, caring nature, and quiet strength will be remembered always.

A gathering to honour and celebrate her life will be held at the Swan Valley Historical  Museum on Saturday July 11 at 2pm.
