Gilbert Graham Obituary

Gilbert Arthur Graham

1941 – 2025

With family at his bedside, Gilbert Arthur Graham passed away in the Swan Valley Health Centre on July 31, 2025. Even though Gilbert, Dad, Papa lost his battle with cancer, there were many victories in his experience.

Leaving to cherish his memory; his wife Evelyn of 61 years, three sons, Malcolm (Kyla), Lorne (Charmaine), Arnold, three daughters, Carolee (Richard), Danielle (Ryan), Angie (Donny), 22 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brother Wayne, sister Myrna Walmsley (Murray), many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Mayme Graham, and brother Floyd.

Gilbert was born in Mrs. Norwal’s Nursing Home in Birch River, MB on May 16, 1941. In 1962 he went out west to B.C. to work in the bush. When he returned home, he married the love of his life, Evelyn on November 16, 1963. On the farm they started their young family, mixed farming, milking cows, sawmill’s, logging and auction sales were all part of the learning curves through life. He always enjoyed visiting, teasing and laughing.

At the age of 13 Gilbert made his choice to serve God, this choice was the anchor in his life. As a young teenager, he was an anchor and moral support to his mom, an example to his family and took responsibility to get his mom and siblings to meetings. Gilbert had a special ability that anyone could go to him, and he just always seemed to have the right answers. He was a peacemaker and a man of wisdom. All of this because of God’s work within.

In the last days there was a struggle to tell us what he wanted, be he already had what he needed within.

All that knew Gilbert will have fond memories, as a neighbour, a friend, Papa, Dad, and Husband.

If friends so desire, memorial donations in memory of Gilbert may be made to Lavender Good Neighbour Centre Box 189 Bowsman, MB R0L 0H0.
