Greta Filipchuck

It is with heartfelt sorrow we announce the passing of Greta “Rita” Filipchuck on October 3, 2024 at the age of 94.  Greta was born on February 17, 1930 to Leon Tymoschuk and Mary Maksimow.  Greta is survived by her two children, Kelly Filipchuck and Donna Rae Byman (Tammas) and her grandchildren, Nicole, Justin, Tyler Filipchuck and Parker Byman.  Greta is also survived by two of her eleven siblings, Phyllis Goulet and John Jr. Tymoschuk (Jo).

Greta was predeceased by her parents, Leon & Mary Tymoschuk, her husband of 64 years William “Bill” Filipchuck, her brothers Max, Alex, John, Paul, Russ, Walter Tymos and her sisters Lillian Caryk, and Lena Sawchuk.    

Greta had a great passion for gardening, cooking and canning and loved to share with her family and friends.  She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity to all that knew her.

We would like to thank the staff at the Swan Valley Lodge for their compassionate care for our mother during her last years. 

A funeral service will be held at the Living Word Ministries, Swan River at 11:00 AM October 17, 2024.  Internment to follow at the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River where she will be laid to rest.
