Helen Agnes Kostiuk

1935 – 2021

Our beloved mom, grandma (baba), and great grandma (baba), Helen passed away peacefully on June 9, 2021. A gentle soul with a quick wit and kind heart. She will forever be cherished and missed by her devoted five children: Ron (Colleen) Kostiuk, Michelle (Blaine) Kostiuk, Lynn (Grant) Stehr, Donna (Curtis) Kish, Kevin (Diane) Kostiuk; eleven grandchildren Lyndon (Mandie), Malerie, Jesse (Christina), Kelly, Terra, Chris (Amanda), Ashley (Denny), Katie-Jo (Blue) Carlee (Chris), Brandon (Aiyeesha), Kylie (Ryan); seven great grandchildren Beckham, Ainsley, Thomas, Gracie, Travis, Bailey, Memphis. She is loving remembered by her sisters Ann Shewchuk, Violet (Casper) Stoski; sister in laws Doreen Kuyek, Barb Wielgoz; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Helen was predeceased by her loving husband Leonard; parents Mike and Mary Wielgoz; brothers Edward, Joseph, John, Steve, Mike, Andy; and sister Nellie.

Mom was born on January 21, 1935, in Bankend, Saskatchewan farming community. Met and married Leonard, where they began their life together in British Columbia; later moving back to Saskatchewan to farm and raise their family. They retired to Durban, Manitoba on an acreage where they enjoyed their garden, trees, nature, travel, and entertaining family and friends.

After Leonard’s passing, Mom’s on-going passion was for cooking, green thumb for gardening, flowers, and a dedicated Saskatchewan Rough Rider’s fan.

The dedication and care from her son Kevin allowed her to live in the comforts of her home until the end.

In keeping with Covid 19 restrictions, a funeral service will be held at a later date.
