Ida Muller Obituary

Ida Muller was born March 3, 1941, in Poland to Richard and Olga Bach. She immigrated to Canada in 1949 and settled in the Lampard area of Saskatchewan. Ida was the fourth of six surviving siblings.

Ida accepted Christ as her personal saviour as a young girl and lived her life in service of Christ. Although she only had a Grade 8 education, she was wise in life, having built a family and farm, always helping others and putting their needs over her own.

She met her husband, Helmuth Muller, in 1961, and they were married a year later on June 30, 1962. Ida and Helmuth operated a farm in the Sinclair River district, raising two children, Lorne and Charlene, and numerous animals and crops during their time on the land. Ida always ensured the family was fed, clothed, and nurtured. She enjoyed gardening, baking, quilting, and crocheting doilies. An excellent home cook, she always ensured her family was well fed, even as she fretted there was never enough food. (There was always enough food and more!) At the age of 54, she trained and worked in homecare in the Minitonas area. It was only as a recipient of homecare near the end of her life that she and her family appreciated the role she played as a homecare worker and the blessing it was in the life of others.

Ida and Helmuth left the farm in 1995 and moved to Minitonas for several years before relocating to Heritage Manor in Swan River in early 2018. Throughout their time in the Minitonas-Swan River area, they remained faithful members of Minitonas First Baptist Church. Ida was active in the women's ministry at the church, and during the summers lent her considerable cooking skills to what is now Water's Edge Bible Camp.

In October 2020, Ida and Helmuth relocated to Winnipeg to be closer to their family. She loved being a part of the lives of her children and then her grandchildren.

Ida and Helmuth enjoyed doing several cruises with some of her siblings, a number of road trips into the US and BC.

Ida was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2016 but faced her ailment with the same steadfast, calm resolve with which she faced other hardships in her life until the last couple of years when the dementia and Parkinson’s took over her body. Her family rejoices that she is in Heaven with her Saviour, free of Parkinson's, made perfect and whole by Christ's redemptive blood.

Ida was predeceased by two infant siblings, her parents Richard and Olga Bach, oldest brother Robert and his wife Selma, youngest brother Hugo, her sister Elsie and brother-in-law Leon, her nephew-in-law Tim Nemez, her in-laws Paul and Bertha Muller, and brother-in-law Bill Muller.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Helmuth Muller, her children Lorne Muller (wife Monica) of La Salle, Charlene Jenkinson (husband Mike) of Edmonton, and grandchildren Brad Muller (wife Karissa, great-grandchildren Sophie and Parker), Arlana Whittington (husband Mitch), David Muller (wife Denae, great-granddaughter Annrine), Bryce Muller and fiancée Portia, Nicole Bursey (husband Scott, great-grandson William), and Michelle Derkson (husband Josh); along with brother Alfred Bach (wife Judy), brother Ewalt Bach (wife Bev), sister-in-law Charlene Bach, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Parkinson's Canada or the Water's Edge Bible Camp.
