Inger Haugen Obituary

Inger Haugen

1945 - 2020

On January 7, 2020, Mrs. Inger Haugen of Swan River, Manitoba, formerly of Birch River, Manitoba passed away suddenly at the age of 74 years.

She is survived by her two children:  Theodore Haugen of Edmonton, Alberta and Irene (Charlie) Sasyniuk of Leduc, Alberta; and predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Olaf (Ole) Haugen; as well as her parents, Peter and Evelyn Jensen.

Inger was born in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan on December 6, 1945.  An only child, she attended school in National Mills, Manitoba, where she and her parents moved to when she was five years old. During this time Inger worked hard helping her parents make a living through farming and fishing.

In 1965 Inger married the love of her life, Ole Haugen.  They lived at the Birch River homestead, along with their two children, Theodore and Irene. Ole’s mother and brothers, Lars and Martin, also lived there.  Inger was an integral part of the farming operation.  She not only provided all the meals, she ran the equipment as needed, including combining during harvest.

Inger enjoyed farm life and could often be found in the summer running the riding mower or tending to her many flowers, and in the winter snowmobiling or sewing.  She loved sewing pretty, frilly dresses for little girls!

Inger and Ole moved off the farm and into Swan River in 2000. Inger enjoyed the flexibility of town living and being able to go for coffee and meals with her very close friends on a regular basis.

Inger belonged to the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had a strong faith in God, Jehovah and knowing she would be safe and secure in His memory awaiting a resurrection back to this earth under paradise conditions.

Mr. Leroy Hunt conducted the funeral service from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 2:00 p.m. on January 11, 2020 with interment at the Crandell Cemetery in Birch River, Manitoba.  Pallbearers were Ernie Wozny, Wayne Wozny, Lyle Wozny, Jim Staples, Lorne Blaylock, and Howard Pawlett.

If friends so desire, donations in Inger’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Canada, Box 1224 Stn K, Toronto, Ontario M4P 9Z9.

She was taken without any warning,
Her going left hearts filled with pain;
But though she is gone from amongst us,
In our hearts she will always remain.
