Isabell Kathleen Hawkins

1931 - 2022

  In memory of Isabell Kathleen Hawkins who left us on August 13th, 2022. She was born in the R.M. of Swan River on September 13th, 1931, to Margaret and William Rooks and was the eleventh of thirteen children. The family resided in the Shaw District before moving into Swan River.

On June 7th, 1958, Isabell married Russell Hawkins, they lived in the Kenville area for a short time before moving into Swan River. On December 11th, 1959, they welcomed their first child Dalton. On February 8th, 1964, their daughter Beverley joined the family. Isabell, Russell, and the kids moved to Minitonas and then back to Swan River.

Isabell lived in the Swan River area all her life. She always kept a small garden and loved her flowers. Anyone who visited Isabell knew how much she enjoyed decorating for all the holidays, Christmas being her favorite. Isabell loved collecting all kinds of ornaments and glassware and always had them on display. She also had a fondness for birdhouses and had an expensive collection hanging on her deck. She was an active member of the United Church and always enjoyed gathering with the church ladies.

Isabell was predeceased by her husband Russell, her parents, six sisters, and five brothers. She is survived by her son Dalton and family, daughter Beverley and family, and her younger brother Dalton of Langley, BC.
