Jack Lumax Obituary

On November 5, 2021, John Kirk (Jack) Lumax passed away peacefully in the Swan Valley Lodge at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Donna and their 3 children, Lori (Brian) of Ancaster, ON, Greg (Marian) of Minitonas, MB and Brian (Jackie) of Swan River, MB, 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many  nieces and nephews, 3 sisters, Bonnie Epp of Vancouver, BC, Kathleen (Rick) Kristjanson of Virden, MB, Lynn (Larry) Blenkin of Calgary, Alta, brothers-in-law Keith (Winnie) Wilson of Airdrie, Alta, Doug (Mary) Wilson of Winnipeg, MB and sister-in-law Judy (Bill) Barevich of Airdrie, Alta.

Jack is predeceased by his parents David and Marian Lumax, father and mother-in-law, Robert and Helen Wilson and brothers-in-law, Billy Wilson, and Gerry Epp.

Jack was born January 5, 1943, in Swan River, MB. Raised in the Lidstone District, he remained there throughout his childhood and adult life. He married Donna (Wilson) in February 1970 and remained on the family farm, LJK Cattle and Grain Ltd., where together they raised their children and continued to expand the farming operation raising Charolais cattle, grain, and oil seed.

Jack was an active member of the community and was extensively involved in many organizations including the Manitoba Canola Growers Association, the Kinsmen Club, where he was a lifetime member, The Rotary Club and Chairman of the Swan Valley Health Facilities. Although he had a very strong commitment to his community, Jack’s ultimate love was for his family and farming.

Jack was known for his levelheaded demeanor, positive outlook and for being a forward thinker. He was always supportive of his family and was respected for offering his wisdom and perspective, but always recognized the importance of learning and being confident in life decisions.

Jack had many hobbies when he wasn’t farming, he was a talented welder and loved restoring old cars. We all knew he loved Chevy and GMC and anything John Deere green!

Jack will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends. He will rest peacefully knowing how much he was loved.
