James knew firsthand, from a young age, the hard work involved with a large livestock operation. There were always chores to do, hay to bale, machinery to fix and maintain or fence to fix. He had a passion for airplanes and flying, getting his licence Sept 21,1970. He often flew his Piper J3 to the Ranch to check on livestock. James found joy in animals, from exercising the Thoroughbreds, to driving the Heavy Horses on Trail rides.
James stuck to his guns when we decided to introduce Brabants into our breeding program. Best decision ever for good sound PMU mares. There was always a dog… following him outside, sitting on his lap watching the History channel, or riding on the console of the truck. Hours of Canasta, Domino, and Dice games were played, with a fair bit of smack being tossed about… and loads of laughter. He loved the quiet times doing puzzles with Mom, sharing in her stories.
He developed a passion for kayaking. We spent many hours on the water this past summer paddling various lakes in the Ducks.
James was a big man with an equally big heart. He was kind, gentle and steady as they come.
His love for his family and friends knew no boundaries.
An especially bright light were McKenna and Kalli.
An all time favorite thing to do was to have a Campfire and roast Marshmallows.
We will celebrate James’ life this summer (2022) with a Campfire.
