Jason Chalmers Obituary

Jason Chalmers

1987 – 2020

It is with great sorrow that we announce your unexpected passing.

Jason Joseph Leslie Chalmers, born at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 20, 1987, passed away at the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg on March 27, 2020, at the age of thirty-three.

Jason was predeceased by his infant daughter, Grace Katie-Jane Chalmers; and his grandparents, Pat and Nona Lee Hall.

He is survived by his partner, Avril, and young sons, Marshall and Cory; parents, Cindy and Gerry (Linda); sister, Tiffany (Cody); brother, Jeffrey; step brothers, Albert, Robert, and Micheal (Michelle and family); his niece, Emilee; sister in law, Amy (Mike) and their son, Conner; grandparents, Barry and Betty Chalmers, and Beverly Lavigne; numerous aunts and uncles, Tracy (David), Daphne (Donnie), Sharalyn (Neil), Allan (Bonnie), Wendy (Nathan), and Sheldon; many cousins, Jordon, Tory, Dallas, Patrick, Kaleigh, MacKenzie, Chloe, Abbigail, and Jackson.

Jason loved family and the most important part of his life was being a dad. He loved and was so proud of his little boys, and he was a great and awesome dad. He will always be remembered as the kindest, most considerate person, always looking out for the needs of others. He would go out of his way to help anyone and put everyone before himself. Jason spent time with his grandparents, and happily lent a hand to anything he thought would help make life easier in anyway. He took great pride in being able to look out for them.

Jason loved holidays and family…any occasion that would bring everyone together. He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life, and a firm understanding of what was important, the simplicity of living a life with those you love.

Jason had a smile that lit the room and a belly laugh that came from his soul. He was joy personified. If Jason taught us anything it would be to enjoy every moment of the joy and the laughter that life has to offer.

As we all miss Jason in this life, we are comforted knowing that Jason’s pride and joy in being a dad carries on as Jason has been reunited with his baby girl, and he holds her close as the rest of us learn how to live without him.

Jason’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the health care professionals at the Health Science Centre for their care and compassion to Jason and his family.
