On January 27, 2020 Jean Vopni of Swan River, Manitoba, passed away at 92 years of age.
Jean was born in Rainy River, Ontario on July 26, 1927 to John and Delia Conway.
Jean worked as a telephone operator for five years in Swan River before marrying Gerald on November 26, 1948. They raised their four children in the Harlington District where they farmed for many years.
In the early 70s Jean and Gerald, together with his cousin, opened Green Acres Campground. They enjoyed meeting people who came to the campground from a variety of places. In 1979 they moved from Harlington to Swan River and continued to run the campground and kept up the farm as well.
Jean enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and playing bingo. Up until her passing, she loved reading on her iPad, jigsaw puzzles, word games and crossword puzzles.
Jean is survived by son Miles (Andrea), of Sylvan Lake Alberta, grandson Kristifer (Lindsey) and great granddaughter Tauriel, grandson Brent (Jenny) and great grandson Zackery, granddaughter Nina, daughter Carla (Dennis), of Swan River, daughter Susan (Bill), of Edmonton Alberta, daughter-in-law Joyce of Ponoka Alberta, granddaughter Rhonda (Joel) and great granddaughters Janessa and Skyla, grandson Kelly (Kristin) and great granddaughters Brooke and Haley.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, John and Delia Conway; her husband Gerald; son Sydney, great granddaughter Serenity; sister Pearl McGowan and husband Norman; brother Sidney Conway and wife Fern; niece Beverly Conway; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Nellie Vopni.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Harlington.
