Peacefully and surrounded by family, Keith David Born passed away on the evening of February 12, 2025, at the Brandon hospital at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his son Adam and wife Karen with one child and three grandchildren, stepdaughter Lisa with husband David, and stepson Wesley. Also mourning his passing are his siblings Evelyn, Elva with husband Norman, Sally with husband Robert, and Stan with wife Fernilee, and many nieces and nephews.

 Keith was predeceased by his first wife Jane, wife Victoria (Vicky), parents, George and Mary Born of Kane, brother John and wife Dorothy, brothers Leonard and Robert.

Keith (Butch) was born on March 16, 1947, at the Carman hospital. He grew up in Kane, Manitoba, attended grade school there and high school in Lowe Farm, Manitoba. After a year of university, he pursued a career in Credit Union management, working in Winnipeg, Sanford and Pine River, married Jane Bacon and had a son, Adam. In the 1980s Keith and Adam moved to Swan River where he worked as office manager for Hadiken Concrete until his retirement. He married Victoria Motkaluk of Pine River in 1986.

Keith was an avid sports fan, enjoying CFL football and cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, much to the chagrin of his brother’s-in-law. He enjoyed curling and baseball, and in his spare time he enjoyed writing letters to the editor and short stories about life in Kane and other places that he lived.

Keith had a kind and gentle spirit, embracing his children and extended family in an affirming manner. He enjoyed gardening and raising many varieties of flowers. He enjoyed reading and old movies. He also frequently darkened the door of thrift shops in the places he visited. He was a regular at church, making numerous friends who will miss him at weekly coffee get-togethers.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Swan River Ambulance, Swan Valley Emergency, Winnipeg LifeFlight and the Brandon hospital ICU for their excellent care of Keith in his final days. Your work and dedication have been a blessing.

Funeral service for Keith Born was held Friday February 21, 2025, at the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services.
