Kelly Shykitka Obituary

Kelly Shykitka was born February 21, 1962, in Benito, Manitoba to Nick and Ethel Shykitka. He was raised on the farm with his three brothers and seven sisters. His love for nature in all its forms came to him at a very young age. He followed his big brother around on his adventures and later, followed the teachings of his dad. Kelly’s whole life centered around the enjoyment of life surrounded by the natural world. He enjoyed everything in nature, I mean everything – all of God’s creatures and living life in nature. Kelly observed nature in its purest form and realized how blessed he was to have experienced God’s wonders.

Kelly had the natural ability to tell amazing stories of his adventures. It was like you were right there. His gift was humour and his contagious laugh was infectious.

Kelly enjoyed exploring different areas, hunting, fishing, mushroom picking and was always on the lookout for nature’s art. He was a social butterfly; people never left a visit from Kelly without feeling good.

Kelly was a “Jack of all trades, master of none but better than the master of one.” He guided throughout Canada teaching and guiding people not only for one purpose but to teach the joy of God’s natural wonders.

Kelly’s greatest gift was his huge heart. He had tremendous compassion for everyone: he truly understood that everyone had a story. He showed respect to all. There was always a thank you and please for everyone.

Kelly comes from a family of ten. Our ten-sibling family is no longer but we are blessed to know God and you will be there to greet us when we join you. Thank you, Brother, for such bravery. Love forever.

Kelly is predeceased by his, dad, Nicholas Shykitka, mother, Ethel Shykitka, sister, Mary, nephew, Michael Maksymiw, niece, Twyla Woloshyn.

He is survived by his brothers – Ron Shykitka, Jim (Janet) Shykitka and Brad (Kelly) Shykitka and his sisters, Arlene (Brian) Woloshyn, Gail Shykitka, Karen Shykitka, Lori Shykitka, Sandy (Terry) Maksymiw and Carol Koroluk, also, by 68 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Forever in our hearts, Kelly. Rest in peace.
