Peacefully with his family by his side, Lawrence Ernest Larocque passed away on March 26th in Winnipeg, MB.
Lawrence was born on March 11, 1948, in Canora, SK to Ernest and Vida Larocque.
In 1968 Lawrence left the Lenswood area and moved to Winnipeg, MB. There he worked for V.K Mason Construction for a few years. He then changed jobs and started working for the Province of Manitoba as a groundskeeper/gardener. Lawrence enjoyed beautifying the Legislature grounds and various other government buildings with flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees. There he worked with a good friend Lloyd Lee for his first few years. Lawrence looked after those grounds for 28 years. Even though Lawrence took early retirement in 2004 his passion for flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees remained.
On August 27, 1971, he married Gladys (nee Geib). They lived together for many years on an acreage north of Winnipeg, MB. Lawrence loved looking after the yard around home, planting flowers, shrubs, and trees. Every year Lawrence would plant a huge garden and they would enjoy the produce of his labour. Lawrence's Motto was "If you don't accomplish something each day it is a waste of a day." Lawrence was a real outdoor person and had a passion for hunting and fishing. He loved his time with his grandchildren doing various activities. Even if it involved wild rides skidooing and side by side. Lawrence was always game to go along with it. He was thrilled to attend the grandchildren's many sporting events. Shawn enjoyed taking his Dad to some NHL and Moose games which Lawrence enjoyed.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife Gladys, his children Sheldon Larocque, Sheri (Sheldon) Nunn, and their children Kayden, Kylan, Jaymen, and Jenaya, and his youngest son Shawn Larocque. His Sister Irma (Bill) Burghart of Bowsman, MB, Geraldine (Lorne) Triska of Breton, AB, Sharon Larocque of Winnipeg, Authur Larocque of Swan River, MB, Karie (Norman) Eggie of Swan River, MB, Aunt Agnes Larocque of Swan River, MB. Many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and all of Gladys's family.
He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Vida Larocque and Two brothers Glen Larocque and Douglas Larocque.
Through some dear friends, the Larocque family was invited to hear the gospel in 1962. Lawrence developed a taste and love for God's word and made his choice to serve God in 1963. Lawrence has been true to his commitment to God and was looking forward to this day.
