Elaine Blair
1937 - 2021
On May 14, 2021, Elaine Blair of Swan River, formerly of Minitonas, Manitoba passed away at the age of 84 years. She was born Leona Elizabeth Boyko, March 27, 1937 in Preeceville, Saskatchewan. She grew up with her sisters on a farm outside of Preeceville. She began work as a teller in the Toronto Dominion Bank where she met her husband, Jack Blair. They married May 4, 1957 and had four daughters, Wynne, Johnna, Delmarie and Sandee.
Elaine was a dedicated wife, mother, friend, and homemaker. She was a talented crafter whose hands were rarely idle. She enjoyed gardening and canning. She instilled values of honesty, morality, and a strong work ethic in her daughters. She valued being a member of the United Church in Minitonas. As her children grew, she worked outside the home for the Association for Community Living. In later years, her six grandchildren brought her great joy.
Elaine is predeceased by her beloved husband Jack Blair; by her parents Stella and Ted Boyko; by her parents-in-law Hazel and Oliver Blair; by her sisters Nadia, Nadine and Lucy; and by her daughters Johnna and Delmarie. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Wynne Kerr, husband Ron and daughter Kaitlin; Johnna’s husband Dale (Bertram) and daughter Samantha and son Jesse; Delmarie’s husband Bruce (McMillan) and their son Kyle and his wife Alex; daughter Sandee Blair and husband Rod Miller and daughters Julia (Phill) and Rachel; her sister Agnes Swan and sister-in-law Pat Blair, relatives, friends, and former neighbours who remember her fondly.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Swan River Valley Personal Care Home for the attentive care they have provided Mom in the past eight and half years. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Elaine’s memory to the Personal Care Home or The Canadian Mental Health Association.
