On Thursday, October 23, 2025, Mrs. Leona Seib (Mincer) of Swan River, MB, passed away peacefully in the Benito Health Centre, in Benito, MB, at the age of 93.
Leona was born April 8, 1932, in Minitonas, MB, to Albert Mincer and Ottilia (Reiter) Mincer. Born into a large farming family, Leona was the fifth of eight children. Leona worked as a domestic housekeeper for many families in the Swan River and Minitonas area before meeting the love of her life, Ray Seib. They married on April 10, 1952, and lived in Herbert, SK for several years before moving back to the Swan River Valley where they raised their five children.
As the children grew up and left home, Leona decided it was time to seek work outside of the home and secured a position as bus driver for the Swan Valley School Division for 24 years, from 1973-1997. She was proud to have the distinction of being the first female bus driver in the School Division.
Leona came to faith in Jesus Christ at 12 years of age and faithfully served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She shared a deep love of birds with her husband Ray, and together they hosted countless birding events for elementary schools in Swan River. Leona loved camping, fishing, and simply being outside to enjoy the beauty of nature. While she was a fantastic cook and baker, she was known far and wide for her homemade buns!
Leona is predeceased by her husband Ray Seib, her son Barry Seib, grandson Myles Seib, sisters Adena Henkelman, Lydia Hales, Eileen Kunert, brother Walter Mincer and son-in-law Robin Sheppard. She is survived by her children Karen Sheppard, Sandra Seib, Rod (Eileen) Seib and Debbie (John Murdo) Nicolson, sister Elsie Crocker and brothers lrvin and Elmer Mincer, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
